How to Account for Utilities

Last updated on Apr 01, 2025

If you want to include electricity, water, gas, or other utilities in your product costs, you'll need to add them as resources in Controlata.

Adding a Resource

  1. In the “Resources” section, click “Add” to create a new utility resource.

  2. Leave the “Depreciate this resource” toggle turned off.

  3. Enter the resource cost, such as the price of electricity per kWh, or water or gas per cubic meter.

  4. Specify a category – we recommend creating a separate category for utilities.

Adding the Resource to a Product

After you've added utilities to the “Resources” section, add them to your product:

  1. Go to the product you want to edit.

  2. Open the “Resources” tab.

  3. Add the appropriate utility resource.

  4. Save the changes to the product.

Now when you manufacture this product, Controlata will include utility costs in the product cost calculations.
