Creating and Editing Production

Last updated on Dec 24, 2025

Production is the process of manufacturing products from materials.

You can also create products from other products by enabling this option in settings (for more details on this feature, see [this article]).

Adding a New Production Run

There are three ways to add a production run:

  1. Click the “Add” button to create a production run from scratch.

  2. Copy an existing production run by opening any production and clicking “Copy.”

  3. On the products page, select the desired products and click “Create production” in the bottom popup menu.

To edit a production run, open it by clicking its number or name in the main list, then click the “Edit” button.

Production Information

Date

The date of the production run.

Name

You can enter any information here that will be displayed in the production list for your convenience. This field can be left blank.

Materials location

Select the storage location from which materials will be consumed. Only displayed when you have multiple materials storage locations.

Products location

Select the storage location where manufactured products will be stored. Only displayed when you have multiple products storage locations.

Used products location

Select the storage location from which products will be consumed. Only displayed when:

  • you have multiple products storage locations

  • and the products being manufactured include other products (subassemblies) in their bill of materials

Produced Products

Specify which products and in what quantities you plan to manufacture.

Notes

You can leave any information in the notes that will be useful to you.

Files

You can attach images and other files to your production runs.

Produce subassemblies

The Produce subassemblies toggle controls how the system handles products that are used as components in the item being manufactured. This toggle is only shown when the products being manufactured contain other products (subassemblies) in their bill of materials.

When the toggle is off, subassemblies are consumed from inventory as finished components. The system expects them to already be manufactured and in stock. For example, when producing a table that includes a tabletop as a component, the system will consume the finished tabletop from inventory along with the other materials in the table's bill of materials.

When the toggle is on, subassemblies are "expanded" down to their raw materials. Instead of consuming a finished subassembly, the system consumes all the materials required to make it. When producing the same table, the tabletop is not consumed — instead, the boards, glue, and other materials from its bill of materials are consumed directly.

The toggle works recursively through the entire component hierarchy. If a subassembly contains another subassembly, that one will also be expanded down to materials — and so on until only raw materials remain.

Material Inventory Forecast

When creating or editing a production run, you can immediately check if you have sufficient materials. To do this, click the “Show material stock forecast” toggle.

A table will display all materials used in this production run, their forecasted values, and minimum values.

Forecast values are calculated based on all operations entered in the system with earlier dates.

The “Only items below minimum level” toggle allows you to display only those materials where the forecasted value is less than the minimum stock level.

If you use products to manufacture other products, the table will also show forecasted inventory levels of the products being used.
